Social Distancing Enforcement – Trouble Looms At Ibadan Neigbourhoods

Except something is done fast, tempers may tip over in the Adegbayi and Alakia neigbourhoods of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital where security men have descended on social distancing rule breakers.
Many of the residents had a raw deal in the hands of the soldiers and operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who have been mobilsed by the authorities in the state, but most of the people affected are adamant.]
investigations show that many of them are already in their wits end, not being able to meet the needs of their families since the lockdown.
Though the Governor of the State, Egnr.Seyi Makinde had announced on Tuesday during a phone conversation with a popular radio station in ibadan that he will not lockdown the state during this period, but there is restriction in the movement of the people.
Mr Rasaki Adelayo a resident of Adegbayi who witnessed the soldiers beating both residents and traders on Monday evening said it was not a pleasant spectacle.
He further explained that, since the Federal Government had refused to distribute the money that they promised the citizens, that the people had no alternative than to seek means of survival.
